Last Friday, June 25th, in Montalegre, the consortium for the creation of the Barroso Center for Research and Innovation in Biological Systems – ValorBarroso – was signed.
The creation of the ValorBarroso center results from the collaboration of several entities, including the municipalities of Boticas and Montalegre, which constitute Barroso, and the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (portuguese IPB). Its objectives are to promote teaching and research activities based on agriculture and to develop new scientific and cultural centralities of international relevance that contribute to the dissemination and development of the region.
VALORBARROSO AIMS TO PROMOTE TEACHING AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES BASED ON AGRICULTURE THAT CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE REGION.
The meeting also allowed for the signing of the contract for the project to create the SIPAM/GIAHS Barroso World Agricultural Heritage Center and the public presentation of the stamps allusive to the recognition attributed to Barroso, by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
