The 23rd Pork Gastronomic Fair is scheduled for the 15th, 16th and 17th of January 2021. This year, due to the circumstances dictated by the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be held in a different way, complying with the rules of the General Health Directorate, but maintaining the quality to which visitors are accustomed, promoting traditional products and providing unique business opportunities for those engaged in the production of traditional smoked meats.
The fair will maintain the quality to which visitors are accustomed, promoting traditional products and providing business opportunities for those engaged in the production of traditional smoked meats.
The layout of the Multipurpose Pavilion and the stands has been designed to respect the social distance between the various points of sale, and circuits have also been implemented to move inside, with the entrance and exit being made by different places, to avoid the crossing of people. The number of accesses to the interior of the Pavilion will also be conditioned according to the space necessary for the distance to be fulfilled. There will also be the measurement of the temperature at the entrance to the Fair and the mandatory use of the mask.
Due to the circumstances, this year’s Fair will not have the usual “Tasquinhas” (small taverns) inside the Pavilion, and the municipality’s restaurants will associate themselves to the initiative and will make available, in their own spaces, menus appropriate to the event, based on their preparation of meat and pork derivatives.
To avoid concentrations of people, there will be no musical animation nor the traditional “chegas de bois” (oxen fight).
Ensuring that all security conditions are in place, given the moment we face it, the Municipality of Boticas will provide quick tests, also having a nurse at all times, in case anyone shows compatible symptoms with COVID-19, in order to be able to quickly overcome any suspicious case. At the same time, alcohol gel dispensers will be placed at various points in the Pavilion.
On Friday (January 15) the Fair will run from 2pm to 7pm, while on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 7pm.
The fair will also have online sales
At the same time as the 23rd Pork Gastronomic Fair is being held in its reference physical space (Multipurpose Pavilion), the Municipality of Boticas will provide an online sales platform through which producers can complement their businesses. This platform will operate from January 15 (opening day of the Fair) and until January 27, at the beginning of the Montalegre Fair.
The business model, management, packaging and dispatch of orders will be in charge of the Municipality of Boticas, with the partnership of the Boticas Business Association Mais Boticas. As it happens in the space of the fair, in the online sales there is also the commitment in the quality of the smoker and the quality control of the same, applying, in general, the rules by which the electronic commerce is governed, with all the guarantees of fulfilment of the consumer rights.
Producers may join this platform on a voluntary basis, in order to guarantee extra income and create channels for the disposal of the product produced.
